Peace Akili and everyone else,

I want to say that this information and knowledge this brotha is dropping is so vital and right on time. These are the issues we need to know about, and I think framing them in the context of hip hop and the younger generation is the key to talking about these issues in relevant ways that reach folks and speak to a lot of experiences folks are having. Hip hop, though commodified, has so many potentials and so many people are using it as a tool of resistance and struggle.

I have worked in the past with AWOL Magazine (www.awol.objector.org), and I think tapping into them as a resource would be really good. They are a poltiical hip hop magazine that talks about militarism issues, and the other issues that affect young folks, especially of color, today. We have framed many of the issues around militarization around hip hop in past issues.

In every movement of resistance, culture has played a vital and important role. We have to use all the tools available to us, and create a movement that people want to put their hearts and their souls into, and for that we have to feed hearts and souls.
